Sally Dewar

Sally Dewar advises boards and senior executives across financial services on governance, culture and purpose, non-financial risk and compliance, and regulatory strategy. She brings over 25 years’ experience across banking, asset management and insurance.

Previously, Sally was CEO of A&O Shearman’s consulting business, which she established in 2018, building a global team in governance, culture and compliance, regulatory change, transformation and financial crime. Before that she led JPMorgan’s International Office of Regulatory Affairs for seven years, and served as Managing Director of the Risk Division at the UK Financial Services Authority, sitting on the FSA Board.

Her work includes board effectiveness reviews, leadership accountability regimes across jurisdictions, culture and conduct programmes adopted globally, and scenario-led board training and resolution exercises. She continues to advise on governance frameworks, reasonable steps, and regulatory engagement.

Sally has been an Industry Professor at UCL (2021–2023), serves as Senior Adviser to Ashurst’s Risk Advisory Team and to Sicsic Advisory, sits on advisory boards, and contributes to leadership programmes at the University of Cambridge’s Møller Institute.
