Leadership & Industry Experience

With more than 25 years in financial and professional services, Sally most recently served as CEO of A&O Shearman’s consulting business, which she founded in 2018. Under her leadership, the practice grew into a global team of specialists covering governance, culture, compliance, regulatory change, transformation, financial crime and risk, serving clients across the UK, Australia, the US and beyond.

Before joining A&O, Sally spent over seven years as Head of JP Morgan’s International Office of Regulatory Affairs. She began her career at KPMG and went on to hold senior roles during a decade at the Financial Services Authority (FSA), including Managing Director of the Risk Division overseeing all aspects of the UK listed markets and serving as an Executive Member of the FSA Board.

Regulatory & Advisory Impact

  • Leading regulatory discussions on Brexit strategy.
  • Designing and delivering JPM’s culture and conduct agenda across EMEA and APAC (later adopted globally).
  • Developing an individual accountability regime across multiple regulatory frameworks.
  • Overseeing EMEA governance, including governance‑effectiveness reviews across jurisdictions.
  • Leading global advocacy efforts on regulatory policy reform.

Governance, Culture & Board Advisory

  • Implementing accountability regimes for global institutions.
  • Designing “reasonable steps” frameworks.
  • Conducting culture reviews and embedding cultural change.
  • Advising on regulatory obligations both as a retained adviser and on discrete issues.
  • Delivering Board‑level resolution fire drills and scenario‑based strategic and risk discussions.

Academic & Non‑Executive Roles

From 2021 to 2023, Sally served as an Industry Professor at University College London, contributing to its Masters programme in Private Equity, Finance and Fintech. She has held multiple Non‑Executive Director positions and currently serves as: Advisory Board Member at Umony Ltd; Senior Adviser to Ashurst’s Risk Advisory Team; and Senior Adviser to Sicsic Advisory. She also contributes to the Møller Institute’s Leadership Programme at the University of Cambridge.
